Ingredients

  • Basmati Rice 1 cup
  • water 1 3/4 cup
  • veg oil 30 ml
  • cinnamon 1 gm
  • cloves 1 gm
  • cardamom green 1 gm
  • black pepper corns 1 gm
  • star anise 1 gm
  • Onions sliced 30 gm
  • garlic 1 gm
  • carrots ( batons) 50 gm
  • green beans ( fasole verde ) 50 gm
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

method

  1. wash and soak rice in water for 15 mins ( do not crush the rice , use a light hand )
  2. heat a pot add oil
  3. add spices in oil and wait till it get s fragrant
  4. add onion, garlic, carrots and sweat till it gets soft . ( for 2 mins)
  5. add water, salt and bring it to a boil .
  6. when water starts boiling add soaked and drained rice . Bring it to a boil.
  7. cover cook for 12 mins on low flame
  8. when cooked use a fork and fluff the rice ,
  9. TASTE , and serve warm accordingly
